WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 4, 2009) – The
10th ranked Rollins men's tennis team swept doubles and dropped
just one singles match to post an 8-1 victory over Webber
International in the Tars 2009 season opener.
Rollins (1-0) was dominating throughout with just one match
going beyond two sets.
Seventh ranked Neil
Clausen and Pablo
Seijo earned an 8-1 win over Rafael Teixeria and Caio Cardoso
at the top doubles spot. The Tars went on to earn a sweep as Adrain
Tan and Jeff
Morris won No. 2, 8-3 and the team of Nick Rowlands and Bill
Rockwood took the No. 3 doubles 8-1.
Tan made easy work of Cardoso at No. 1 singles, winning 6-1,
6-0. Clausen, the 27th ranked player in Division II, was a 6-2, 6-4
winner over Teixeira at No. 2 while 35th ranked Morris won 6-2, 6-3
at No. 3 over Philippe Andermatt.
Seijo downed Reyne Hospedales at No. 4 singles 6-0, 6-1 and Andrew
Johnson was a 6-1, 7-6 (5) winner over Francisco Franco at No.
6.
Rollins will be back in action on Saturday, February 14th,
hosting Palm Beach Atlantic at Noon.
