WINTER PARK, Fla. (December 30, 2009) - Rollins had four player score in double figures and cruised past Maryville University 69-39 in a non-conference, Wednesday matinee.

Brooke Burgess poured in a season best 21 points and pulled down eight rebounds to lead the Tars (7-3). Brittainy Daiger chipped in 12 points with Jasmine Bradley netting 10. Amber Heistan added 11 points and a career best seven assists.

Tori Tyner tallied 10 points and seven rebounds to lead the Lady Saints (2-7) while Ellyn Unger chipped in seven points off the bench.

Rollins broke a 4-4 tie after the first three minutes with a 10-2 run to take a 14-6 lead at the 14:21 mark of the half. The Saints responded with a quick 6-0 spurt over the next two minutes to cut the Tars lead to three before consecutive buckets by Burgess and Bradley put Rollins back up seven. Maryville again closed the gap to three, but the Tars outscored the visitors 13-5 in the final five minutes of the half to take a 38-22 lead at intermission.

Rollins defense shined in the second half and surrendered just five field goals to the Saints in the frame. The Tars lead ballooned to 23 early in the second half, but was cut to 18 after five straight points from Unger. After five consecutive trips down the floor for the Tars came up empty, Bradley drained a jumper to put Rollins back up 20, 54-34 with five minutes to play.

Abrielle Clemons then put the exclamation point on the game with a layup in the final seconds to give the Tars the convincing victory.

Rollins shot 39 percent (27-69) in the game and held Maryville to just 25 percent (13-52) from the field. The Tars also won on the boards 43-37 and forced 23 MU turnovers while committing just 11.

The Tars will be back in action on Saturday, January 2 at No. 15 Clayton State. Rollins will look to avenge an earlier loss to the Lakers as Clayton downed Rollins 75-53 in the Tars Thanksgiving Classic. Game time is slated for 2 p.m.
