BOCA RATON, Fla. -

The Rollins volleyball team fell on the road to the Lynn Fighting Knights, 3-0 (25-23, 25-23, 25-16), Friday evening at the de Hoernle Center in the Tars' 2009 Sunshine State Conference finale.

Rollins (14-20, 2-14 SSC) was led by senior Nikki Hartman's 13 kills and 12 digs. The Deltona, Fla., native was the Tars' lone player to record double-digit kills. She now has 20 double-doubles on the season and increased her season total kills to 478, which places her seventh on the Tars' single-season list.

Following Hartman was Jenny Sherwood with nine kills to lead the offensive attack. Providing the assists for the Tars was freshman setter Kiana Parks. She finished with 32 assists and racked up two aces.

Defensively, Phoebe Corder registered a match-best 20 digs as she increased her season total mark to 456. Last season, Corder set the school's single-season dig record with 699 and now has a career total of 1,155 to place eighth all-time.

Rollins finished with four team blocks as sophomore right side hitter Lora Lieb contributed to all four. However, Lynn responded with 14 kills from outside hitter Chelsey Semprini and Sophie Gagnon who finished with 12. The Knights tallied 53 total kills, 15 more than Rollins.

Lynn hit .344 as it began the match with a .364 attacking percentage in the first set. With 20 kills and just four attacking errors, the Knights combined their offensive outburst with their defense as they held Rollins to just 12 kills.

In the second set, Rollins fell into a big hole late when it was down seven at 22-15. After splitting points, Rollins scored six-straight points to come within one point at 23-22. During the 6-0 run, Hartman paved the way with three kills. A Semprini kill ended the Tars rally, but Hartman gave the Tars another chance as she cut the deficit back to one, but a Haley Pratt blast secured the Knight win.

In the third stanza, Lynn cruised as it held Rollins to a match-low .070 attacking percentage. The Knights failed to record a block until the third set when it captured five. Lynn led the entire way in the decisive set to claim the victory.

Rollins returns home for the final regular-season match of the 2009 season when it hosts Palm Beach Atlantic, Saturday, Nov. 14 at 5 p.m.
