Men's Basketball At A Glance:

The Rollins College men's basketball team will square off against Florida Southern for the second half of the Sunshine State Conference season. Major implications will be on the line as the winner of the game will have sole ownership of the top spot in the conference.

The Mocs and Tars battled on the hardwood once before with Rollins capturing a 85-72 victory in the conference opener, Dec. 6 at Warden Arena. Five scorers reached double figures for the Tars including Jeremy Sharpe's team-high 19 points and Julian Wilkison 12 points off the bench.

In the all-time series, Florida Southern still holds a commanding lead of 88-41. Prior to the 2009 victory, the Tars last victory over the Mocs came Jan. 29, 2007 in a 71-69 win at home. Last year, the Mocs swept the Tars in the season, beating Rollins by a total of six points.

Head coach Glenn Wilkes and Tom Klusman have a combine win total of 1,021. The tandem ranks third in total wins and are the fourth active duo to achieve the 1,000 victory milestone.

Leading Rollins is sophomore Nick Wolf with a 16.6 ppg average, while 1,000 point club member Kevin Hogan trails with a 14.8 average. Hogan has scored 282 points this season to increase his career scoring mark to 1,165, which places him 26 th all-time in the Tars' record book. He also rests in second place in 3-point field goal percentage (.451) and third in 3-point field goals made (249).

Both teams enter riding winning streaks. The Tars have avenged its first conference loss against Lynn with four-straight victories, while the Mocs are boasting a conference-leading 12-game winning streak.

Women's Basketball At A Glance:
Today the Tars take on conference rival Florida Southern in a battle that will have conference title implications. The Tars take on the Moccasins for the 80th time today; Florida Southern leads the all time series 42-37.

Rollins took down the Mocs the last time the two teams met in an early season conference matchup in December. Regulation time was not enough to decide the outcome as both teams went to an extra frame and the Tars prevailed 91-87. Rollins has rebounded after suffering its first loss of the season as the Tars are now riding a three game winning streak.


Head Coach Glenn Wilkes and Tom Klusman own 1,021 wins between the two of them. The two rank third in total wins and are the fourth active duo to have over a 1,000 wins. Glenn Wilkes, Jr. and his father Glenn Wilkes, former Stetson men's coach, are the only father-son coaching duo with more than 500 wins apiece.

Rollins improved one spot this week as they climbed No. 11 in this week's USA Today/ESPN Coaches Poll after beating conference opponent Eckerd, Saturday afternoon. The Rollins men and women have combined to earn 30 wins, which is tied for fourth best in Division II. The two teams have a combined winning percentage of .857.

The Tars are coming off big conference win against Eckerd University, last Saturday afternoon. The first half saw both teams shoot above 40 percent in the first half. The hot shooting by each teams only yielded a one point lead for the Tars. Jessica Pressley and Kourtnie Berry carried the Tars offensively as they combined for 24 points. Rachael Malatesta paced the Tars with seven rebounds including three on the offensive glass.

Ines Teuma is the Tars leading scorer this season is averaging 11.3 ppg and pulling down 8.5 rpg. Outside
shooter Jessica Pressley continues her hot shooting as she is hitting on 43 percent of her shots from behind the arc, and is averaging 10.4 ppg.

The Tars continue to dominate teams in scoring, as they outscore opponents by an average of 16.3 ppg and are also outrebounding teams by an average of 9.4 rpg. The Tars continue their streak of out-rebounding opponents this season to 18 games.

The Tars will return home to face conference rival Saint Leo on February 4 at 5:30 p.m.
