BOCA RATON, Fla. –

Junior outside hitter Nikki Hartman led Rollins with a match-high 16 kills in a losing effort against the Lynn Fighting Knights, 3-0 (25-20, 25-18, 25-23) in Sunshine State Conference action, Saturday afternoon at the de Hornle Center.

The Tars (10-4, 1-1 SSC) continued their strong defensive play by limiting the Fighting Knights (7-6, 2-0) to a .181 attacking percentage.

Contributing to the low hitting percentage for Lynn was Phoebe Corder's 22 digs and Lacey Malarky's nine. The team totaled five blocks in the contest with junior Natalie Branche in on three of them.

Joining Hartman in double-digits in kills was senior Stephanie Nichols with 12. Senior setter Malarky recorded 27 assists in the contest.

In the opening frame, the Tars held a 19-15 lead before the Fighting Knights fought back and scored 10 of the final 11 points to capture the first set. Hartman blasted six kills, while Nichols added three to post the only offensive points for the Tars in the stanza.

After claiming the 25-18 second set, the Knights trailed 15-11, but tied the match 19 before taking a 24-21 lead. With back-to-back match point opportunities, the Tars held off the Knights as long as they could with a Hartman kill and an attacking error by Lynn cut the deficit to one at 24-23. The Fighting Knights would secure the win with a Daris Rodriguez kill.

Leading the way for Lynn was Magdalena Jablonska, who was the only player recording double-digits in kills with 10.

The Tars return to action for their SSC home opener against Florida Southern, Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 7 p.m. For more information about live stats and broadcasts please log on to www.RollinsSports.com.
