Winter Park, Fla. (August 30, 2008)- The Tars
were able to bounce back off of a hard fought loss against
Embry-Riddle on Thursday to beat the Wingate University Bulldogs
Saturday night by a score of five to one.
Blade
Zych got the scoring started for the Tars and continued it with
two more goals completing the hat trick. Stephen
Wright, Jacob
Deloach, Kevin
Boone, and Aaron
Rokeach all had assists on Zychs' goals. With the win tonight
the Tars move to 1-1 on the season and the Bulldogs fall to 1-1 on
the season.
Adding to the scoring for the Tars was Justin
Clark with an assist from Leslie
Osei. The Tars also collected on an own goal by the Bulldogs.
The night belonged to the Tars. From that point on the game was
controlled by Rollins and Wingate was struggling to keep up. Keith
Buckley seemed to making the right decisions about
substitutions as every time a substitution occurred the Tars were
on the attack or scoring another goal.
Everything went right for the Tars, which was not the case on
Thursday. Most of the opportunities that were present were
capitalized on. The first goal was scored midway through the first
period and that seemed to give the Tars some much needed
confidence.
The momentum the Tars gained from the first half carried over
into the second half and Wingate was not able to match the Tars
effort and execution. The Bulldogs scored their lone goal in the
76th minute off the foot of Luke Mulholland as he was able to pick
up a loose ball in the box and fire it past Aaron
Rokeach. Rockeach did not face much action all night and only
have to face three shots. A key part of the Tars attack was once
again the free kick execution by Jacob
Deloach and Rokeach as he was able to pick up an assist on
Zych's third goal. The Tars were able to come away with a split of
their first two games at home and gain some much needed
confidence.
Head Coach Dr. Keith
Buckley felt very good about the game as he was happy with the
effort and execution that the Tars had tonight. The Tars are tough
to beat when they execute as they did tonight.
Tonight's Blue Diamond Jeweler's Player of the Game was Blade
Zych as he showed his scoring touch tonight collecting his
first career hat trick.
The Tars are slated to continue their home stand with a tough
matchup against Montevallo on Friday September 5, 2008 at 7:00 p.m.
at Barker Family Stadium. Remember fans to check out newly
redesigned RollinsSports.com to follow all the action all season
