WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 9, 2008) ' The Rollins
softball team, who has won 11 of their last 12 games and is now
26-10 on the season, came in sixth in the latest NCAA Division II
Coaches Poll, released Wednesday. The top eight teams in each of
the eight regions are invited to the NCAA Division II Tournament,
which begins May 8.
Sunshine State Conference foe Barry tops the poll with a record
of 35-2, including a perfect 12-0 mark in SSC play.
Alabama-Huntsville and Valdosta State from the Gulf South
Conference round out the top three, followed by Saint Leo in fourth
and Tampa in fifth.
Rollins was the sixth seed in last season's NCAA South Region
tournament and advanced to the semifinals before being bounced out
by eventual champion Florida Gulf Coast.
Rollins plays Palm Beach Atlantic on Wednesday, April 9 at 5
p.m. before traveling to Boca Raton for a three game SSC series
against Lynn. Game one is slated for 2 p.m. on Friday, April
11.
