SAINT LEO, Fla. (April 9, 2008) - The
7th-ranked Tars blanked the No. 29 Saint Leo Lions 9-0 on Wednesday
afternoon. The win gives Rollins an 18-1 overall record and 7-1
mark in the SSC. The Lions drop to 11-7 and 3-5 in conference
play.
The No. 12 duo of Marnie Mahler and Roshni Luthra overcame Lina
Benkirane and Asmaa Tazi 8-6 in the No. 1, while Siliva Frandji and
Anastasiya Shevchenko defeated Shaena Keefe and Taylor Cleeves 8-4
in the second spot. In their first match together, Margaret Junker
and Allie Steele rolled by Veronica Queen and Gina Schifano 8-0 in
the No. 3.
Mahler took out Benkraine 6-2, 6-3 in the top spot as Shevchenko
overpowered Tazi 6-3, 7-5 playing in the second position. Luthra
coasted past Keefe 6-1, 6-2 in the No. 3, while Junker blanked
Queen 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth slot. Frandji rallied past Schifano
6-0, 3-6, 7-5 in the No. 5, while Sydni Katz won her fourth match
of the season by defeating Cleaves 6-4, 6-3 in the sixth spot.
The Tars will finish out their regular season on Friday, April
11 with a 3:00 p.m. match against Albany State. Five seniors will
be honored before the match at the Bert Martin Tennis Complex.
