WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 11, 2008) - Dropping
only one game in nine matches, the 7th-ranked Rollins women's
tennis team rolled by the Albany State Rams 9-0 on senior day at
the Bert Martin Tennis Complex. Rollins ends the regular season
with a 19-1 overall mark.
The 12th-ranked doubles tandem of Marnie Mahler and Roshni
Luthra blanked Tonya Huggins-Vire and Dominique Green 8-0 in the
No. 1, while Silvia Frandji and Anastasiya Shevchenko defeated
Patrice Rachel and Diana Chira 8-0 in the second seed. Margaret
Junker and Allie Steele cruised past Jana Mrozkova and Traci
Carswell 8-0 in the No. 3.
Mahler won her match against Huggins-Vira 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1
as Shevchenko, Luthra, Junker, Frandji and Cassie Webster won their
matches by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
The Tars will be back in action in the Sunshine State Conference
tournament which begins on Thursday April 17 in Lakeland.
