CHARLOTTE, N.C., (April 6, 2008) ' Freshman
midfielder Courtney Bianculli scored three goals for the Tars on
the way to a 15-5 loss to the Royals of Queens University of
Charlotte on Sunday afternoon in Charlotte, N.C.' The loss drops
the Tars to 3-9 overall, while the Royals improve to 8-5 on the
season.
Joining Bianculli on the scoreboard were Annie Harris and Katy
Tyszko with one goal apiece.' All of Rollins' goals were
unassisted.' Lisa Weber made a total of eight saves for the
afternoon and collected four ground balls.' Along with Weber,
freshman Katie Hubbell grabbed four ground balls as well, and was
closely followed by Bianculli who scooped up three and Harris with
two.
Leading the Royals was Carolynn Loan with four goals and three
assists for the afternoon.' Amanda Mahle, Amanda Martin Angelique
Morabito and Alyssa Hughes tallied two goals apiece, with Mahle and
Martin each tallying two assists.' Kelley Duffey scored a goal and
found assists on four of the Royals' goals, giving her a total of
five points, and Sarah Hannon and Erin Schulz added one goal each
to complete the goal count for Queens.
Queens was the first on the scoreboard and continued with one
more to start out the game with a 2-0 lead, but with a goal from
Tyszko the Tars were up on the board and back in the game.' It was
a back and forth contest as every two goals Queens scored, the Tars
answered with one of their own until the final two goals from the
Royals to end the half and enter into the break with an 8-3
advantage over Rollins.
Queens continued to roll through the second half scoring five
unanswered goals to start out the second period.' Harris was
finally able to break the five goal run, but the Tars were unable
to change the momentum of the game. The Royals scored two more
goals after Harris, and Bianculli ended the game with a final goal
with 5:15 remaining in the second half.
The Rollins College women's lacrosse team will be back on the
road in their final two games of their regular season this upcoming
weekend when they fly up to Long Island to take on Molloy College
on April 11 at 4:00 p.m. followed by their final game of the season
at Dowling College on April 13 at 1:00 p.m.
