Tars Take Series from Sharks in Rain Soaked Weekend

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 6, 2008) - Sherri Rabenold started things off with a lead-off homerun as the Tars' bats rallied past the Nova Southeastern Sharks 6-1 in a make-up game at Lake Island Park. The win bring Rollins to 26-10 overall and 5-4 in conference play. The Sharks drop to 35-14 and 6-3 in the SSC.

Rabenold led the Tars on the afternoon going 2-3 with a homerun, a double, an RBI and two stolen bases. Missy Thogmartin went 2-4 with an RBI as Christine Roser, Monica Meadows, Jamie Rausch, Kayla McCraney, Rachael Foster and Ingrid Schumacher all tallied hits for the Tars' offense.

After Rabenold's solo homerun, the Tars continued to roll in the third inning as Meadows singled up the middle to send Rabenold home, 2-0. Roser then doubled to left field to score Thogmartin, 3-0. Rausch flied out to right field as Meadows tagged up and went home, 4-0. Schumacher had a big trip to the plate as she singled to right field to score Roser, 5-0.

Nova got on the board in the top of the 4th inning as Ashley Baker doubled to center field and Brooke Mitchell singled up the middle to bring her home, 5-1.

The Tars would score one more run in the bottom of the 6th inning. With two outs, Rabenold singled to right field and stole second. Thogmartin singled to center field to send Rabenold home and give Rollins a 6-1 lead over Nova. Three up and three down in the top of the 7th handed Rollins the series win over the Sharks.

In the circle, Nicole Anderson (15-3) pitched a complete game giving up one run on six hits and striking out two.

Lexi Serradet picked up the loss for the Sharks throwing two innings giving up five runs on six hits only striking out one.

The Tars will be back in action on Wednesday, April 9 when they travel to West Palm Beach to take on the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish in a 5:00 p.m. doubleheader.
