WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 5, 2008) ' Rollins
offense sputtered in the opener of a Sunshine State Conference
doubleheader against Nova Southeastern, falling 5-0 before the
nightcap was called due to rain. The Tars and Sharks will play the
third and final game of the series at 11 a.m. Sunday.
Sherri Rabenold hit a double with Jamie Rausch and Morgan Frost
each tallying base hits for the Tars (25-10, 4-4 SSC). Rachael
Foster was saddled with the loss, allowing eight hits and five
runs, four earned with four walks and seven strikeouts.'
Brittney Lamb went 2-4 with an RBI and Kelly Brookins hit a
pinch hit, two run homerun to pace the Nova (35-13, 6-2) bats. Lexi
Sarredet threw the complete game shutout, allowing three hits with
three walks and three strikeouts.
Nova Southeastern took the lead in the third, taking advantage
of a Rollins error and knocking two bunt singles to go up 2-0. The
Sharks blew it open in the fifth as Rachel Talenfeld walked to lead
off and eventually scored after a Tars throwing error. Brookins
made it 5-0, coming in to pinch hit and taking a Foster offering
over the right field fence.
The skies opened up in the break between games and postponed the
rubber match until 11 a.m. on Sunday.
