WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 5, 2008) - Winning all
three doubles matches easily, the Rollins women's tennis team
rolled by the Florida Southern Moccasins 8-1 on Saturday morning at
the Bert Martin Tennis Complex. The win brings Rollins to a 17-1
overall mark and 6-1 in the SSC. The Mocs fall to 12-5 and 4-4 in
conference play.
The No. 12 duo of Marnie Mahler and Roshni Luthra defeated Senka
Softic and Erin Conroy 8-3 in the No. 1. Sonia Bernal and Margaret
Junker crushed Karolina Stochlova and Ashley Hungerford 8-2 in the
second seed. Silvia Frandji and Anastasiya Shevchenko cruised past
Veronika Kovacikova and Nora Baertschi 8-2 in the No. 3.
No. 13 Mahler won her match in straight sets against Softic 7-5,
6-2 in the top spot, while Bernal retired with injury against
Stochlova 6-0, 1-0. Shevchenko rallied past Hungerford 7-5, 0-6
(10-6) in the No. 3, and Luthra coasted against Conroy 6-4, 6-0.
Junker won her 16th match of the season by defeating Mona Sendesni
6-1, 6-2 in the No. 5 and Frandji came back against Kovacikova 0-6,
6-2, 6-2 in the sixth position.
The Tars will be back in action on Tuesday, April 8 when they
host the Embry Riddle Eagles at 3:30 p.m.
