WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 29, 2008) - Junior
Jamie Rausch went 4-4 with three homeruns and 12 RBI to lead the
15th-ranked Rollins softball team past the Albany State Rams 16-0
in game one and 9-1 in game two at senior night at Lake Island
Park. The Tars move to 38-14, while the Rams fall to 36-24.
Shortstop Missy Thogmartin went 5-6 with four doubles and six
RBI, while Christine Roser was 4-5 with two doubles and an RBI.
Seniors Ingrid Schumacher and Lauren Starcher capped off their
senior careers by each knocking solo homeruns out of the park.
Schumacher was 2-4 with three RBI as Starcher went 2-5 with an RBI
as well. Senior Sherri Rabenold was 2-6 with a triple to two more
stolen bases.
On the mound for the first game, Nicole Anderson notched her
23rd win of 2008 as she threw for five innings giving up two hits
and striking out nine Rams. Rachael Foster improved to 14-8 with
her game two victory as she also pitched five innings and gave up
one run on two hits striking out seven batters.
As a team, the Tars hit .523 on the evening with 25 runs on 23
hits, seven doubles, one triple, five homeruns and an impressive 24
RBI.
Mager received the game one loss as she gave up 10 runs on eight
hits with eight errors and two walks. Hill tallied the only run of
the second game as she came home on a throwing error by Foster.
Hurst took the game two loss pitching four innings and giving up
nine runs on eight hits, eight errors and seven walks striking out
one Tar batter.
Head Coach Michelle Frew was honored with her 400th Rollins win
as her Tars' record now stands at 400-218.
The Tars will be back in action on May 9-11 when they travel to
the NCAA Regional Tournament for the third time.
