WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 25, 2008) ' Nicole
Anderson struck out a career high 15 and allowed just one hit as
Rollins downed Eckerd 4-0 in a Sunshine State Conference match-up
Friday. Sherri Rabenold led the 15th ranked Tars bats, going 3-4
with a run scored and RBI. Monica Meadows hit 2-3 with two runs
batted in.
Rollins improves to 34-14, 11-8 SSC with the win and gives head
coach Michelle Frew her 396th victory at Rollins (514 overall) with
four games remaining in the regular season. Eckerd falls to 8-45
overall and 2-17 in conference play.
Anderson allowed just one infield hit with no walks and
struckout seven straight at one point to improve to 21-5 on the
season. Christina Hughes took the loss for the Tritions, allowing
10 hits and four runs, three earned with no walks and three
strikeouts.
Janielle Sedoris had the lone hit for Eckerd, going 3-1 in the
game.
Rollins got on the board in the fourth as Christine Roser led
off with a homer over the left field wall to make it 1-0. In the
fifth, pinch hitter Kayla McCraney reached on an error and was
replaced on the paths by Meghan Shaw. Rabenold then beat out a bunt
single' and Missy Thogmartin singled to load the bases. Meadows
then hit a double to the left center wall that scored Shaw and
Rabenold, giving the Tars a 3-0 lead.
Rachael Foster hit a one-out double in the sixth, was sacrificed
to third by Shaw and was brought home by a Rabenold single to put
the Tars up 4-0.
Rollins and Eckerd will finish their conference series on
Saturday, April 26 in Winter Park with a doubleheader. First pitch
