WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 26, 2008) - Behind Monica Meadows' 6-7 afternoon and Jamie Rausch's 4-7 outing, the 15th-ranked Tars were able to defeat the Eckerd College Tritons in SSC doubleheader action as Rollins took game one 8-0 (6 innings) and 8-0 (5 innings) on Saturday afternoon at Lake Island Park. The Tars improve to 36-14, 12-8 as the Tritons fall to 8-47, 2-19 in conference.

Meadows led things off for the Tars by going 6-7 scoring five runs on six hits, one double, one triple and two RBI. Jamie Rausch posted her best game of the season by going 4-7 with two doubles and one grand slam with seven RBI. Rachael Foster went 5-6 with one run and one RBI.

In the circle for game one, Foster tallied a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts, while Nicole Anderson picked up the game two win by throwing a two-hitter with six Triton strikeouts.

In the first game of the doubleheader, Rollins started the scoring early in the third inning as Rausch notched her first double of the day and scored Meadows and Roser, 2-0. The Tars struck again in the fifth inning when Missy Thogmartin walked, followed by a Meadows single. Christine Roser then singled to advance Meadows to second and Thogmartin to third. Lauren Starcher singled to send Thogmartin home, 3-0. Rausch then hit her grand slam to make the score 7-0 in the fifth inning. Rollins closed game one out in the sixth inning as Rausch singled up the middle to send Meadows home, 8-0.

Rollins began game two much like game one, scoring three runs in the third inning with Foster singling down the right field line. Thogmartin then singled up the middle advancing Foster to second. Meadows came to the plate and tripled to right center scoring Thogmartin and Foster. Roser finished out the third inning scoring by doubling to right field to score Meadows. The Tars ended the game with a mercy rule in the fifth inning by scoring five runs, 8-0.

The Tars will be back in action on Tuesday, April 29 in their final home series against the Albany State Rams. The first pitch of senior day will begin at 6:00 p.m.
