WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 23, 2008) - The No. 15
Rollins softball team had two scoreless outings as they fell to the
Saint Leo Lions in a doubleheader on Wednesday evening. The Tars
lost the first and the second games by the score of 2-0. Rollins
falls to 33-14, 10-8, while the Lions improve to 32-13, 11-7.
Rollins only notched four hits in the doubleheader as Kayla
McCraney, Rachael Foster, Jamie Rausch and Missy Thogmartin all
tallied a hit a piece for the Tars. Sherri Rabenold stole two more
bases to bring her total to 42 on the season.
Rachael Foster picked up the game one loss as she pitched five
innings giving up two runs on three hits striking out four. Nicole
Anderson received the loss in the second game as she threw seven
innings giving up two runs on seven hits striking out nine Lion
batters.
The first Lion run was scored in the top of the fourth inning as
first baseman Maddox blasted a solo homerun to give Saint Leo a 1-0
lead. Their second run was scored in the sixth when Maddox grounded
out to the pitcher with bases loaded to bring home Patrick,
2-0.
In the second game, the Lions took the lead in the top of the
third inning as Casis hit a two-run homerun to give Saint Leo the
2-0 advantage. The Tars' offense would be unable to recover from
the deficit and go on to fall to Saint Leo.
The Tars will be back in action in a weekend series against the
Eckerd College Tritons (8-44, 2-16) beginning on Friday, April 25
at 7:00 p.m.
