More Leads Rollins to 13-6 Non-conference Win

WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 22, 2008) ' Junior right fielder Jesse More went 4-4 with four runs scored and reached base all six times in the Rollins baseball team's 13-6 win against NAIA opponent Embry-Riddle on Tuesday night at Alfond Stadium.' The Tars improved to 27-19-1 overall with the win, while the Eagles fell to 36-13.

The Tars' 17 hits were the most for the team in over a month, and More led the way with a double and three singles in four at bats.' Senior left fielder Mike Crane (2-5, one run), senior first baseman Stefano Foggi (3-5, one run, one RBI), sophomore shortstop Ryan Luker (2-5, one run, two RBI), and senior center fielder Corey Whiting (2-4, one run, one RBI) also had good days at the plate.' Junior catcher Eugene Martinez also excelled in his role off the bench, as he came into the game as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and brought in a run with a sacrifice fly to give Rollins a 7-6 lead, and he stayed in the game and came up with a bases clearing triple in the eighth to finish with four RBI.

Junior right-hander Marty Cornish (3-2) pitched four perfect innings out of the bullpen to earn the win, striking out five batters along the way.' Sophomore right-hander Marc Hewett got the start for Rollins, lasting five innings and striking out seven while allowing six runs, five earned, on seven hits and three walks.

John Keravich got the start for Embry-Riddle, and he left the game with a 6-5 lead in the sixth after allowing five runs on nine hits and two walks.' Chris Maloney (6-3) gave up the lead for the Eagles and suffered the loss, allowing two runs in one and one third innings.' First baseman Kyle Albright had a big day for Embry-Riddle at the plate, hitting two homeruns and driving in five in three at bats.
