LAKELAND, Fla. (April 17, 2008) - The No. 9
Tars blanked No. 41 Florida Tech in quaterfinal action at the
Sunshine State Conference Tournament at the Beerman Tennis
Center.
Rollins easily took the doubles matches as No. 13 Brian Compton
and Jonathan Gomez hammered Jonathan Hanna D.J. Pate 8-2, while
Gustavo Carvalho and Pablo Seijo won their match at the No. 2 by
defeating James McLane and David Fowler 8-1. Playing their second
match as a duo, Austin Duvall and Albin Hubscher ran past Joel
Zahlan and Drew Hollis 8-3 in the third spot.
Only two singles matches were completed as Gomez rolled against
McLane 6-2, 6-1 in the second seed and Duvall rallied past Zahlan
6-1, 6-4 in the No. 5.
The Tars will be back in action tomorrow, April 18 when they
take on the Barry University Buccaneers in semifinal play starting
at 2:00 p.m.
