Since the start of February, the Tars are riding a 9 game
winning streak, suffering losses only to Tampa and Nova
Southeastern.' The Tars will look to extend their post-season play
one game further with a win against the University of Tampa today
on the Spartans' home court in the Sunshine State Conference
Semifinal Match slated to tipoff at 7:30 p.m.
SSC STANDINGS
The Tars rounded out their regular season in a tie with Barry for
third place in the conference.' Including post season games, the
Tars are 19-9, 9-8 in conference play, while the Spartans are 23-5,
14-3 in the SSC.
SERIES VS. THE SPARTANS
Rollins has lost four in a row in their current streak
against Tampa, but hold an overall record of 45-29 against the
Spartans.
SCOUTING THE TARS
Jennifer Musgrove currently leads the Tars in scoring
(13.2ppg), assists (4.7 apg), and steals (3.0 spg).' Jessica
Pressley is closing in with 11.3 points per game.' Ines Teuma holds
onto her' top team ranking with 9.1 rebounds per game, while
Brittainy Daiger continues to lead the team with 1.0 block per
game.'
SCOUTING THE SPARTANS
The University of Tampa women's basketball team captured their
first win in the quarterfinals against Saint Leo, with a score of
62-39. Tampa never trailed the entire game, and held a 30-14
advantage heading into half time. Following a 15-minute break, the
Spartans extended their lead to 23 by the end of the game. Sheena
Walton had 16 points and 10 rebounds and five blocked shots.
DeShaydia Mackey wasn't too far behind with 12 points, as well as a
season and game high of seven assists. Alexa Kane chipped in 10
points. Tampa received a boost from Brittany Ridley who scored
eight points off the bench.
LAST TIME OUT AGAINST TAMPA
The Spartans led the Tars from the 10:44 mark in the first half,
but with eight seconds remaining in the game, Rollins cut the lead
to within one, 53-52. Unfortunately, Rollins could not convert on a
three point attempt by Jennifer Musgrove and fell to Tampa for the
second time this season 55-52 on Feb. 2 at the Martinez Sports
Center. Four players scored in double figures as Musgrove led the
way with 20 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals.
Brittainy Daiger and Ines Teuma both tallied double-doubles as
Daiger had 10 points and 10 boards with Teuma notching 12 points
and 11 rebounds. Sophomore Jessica Pressley chipped in 10 points
for the Tars.
