ALBANY, Ga. (March 28, 2008) ' The Rollins softball team rolled up their seventh straight win, downing Albany State on the road Friday. Rollins took the first 5-3 and won the night camp 13-1 in five innings.

Nicole Anderson picked up the victory in the opener, tossing all seven innings and striking out 10 while allowing two runs. Rachael Foster was the game two winner, scattering four hits and allowing one unearned run with six strikeouts.

Rollins jumped ahead in the first as Sherri Rabenold led off with a single, stole second, advanced to third on a Monica Meadows single and then stole home. Thogmartin doubled in the Tars third and eventually scored, followed by a Schumacher RBI single that placed Lauren Starcher and put Rollins up 3-0. The hosts got on the board in the third, but Rollins answered in the sixth with a Rausch leadoff homer. The Rams cut the gap by another run in their half of the sixth, but Rausch knocked in another in the top of the seventh to make it 5-2.

The Tars kept up the torrid pace in game two, scoring runs in bunches. RBI singles by Starcher and Schumacher and another Rausch RBI put Rollins up 3-0 in the first. After a run in the Albany State first, the Tars pulled away with a run in the second and four in the third. Schumacher, Vanessa Volkema, Rabenold and Meadows each had a double in the big inning for Rollins. The Tars then put it away in the top of the fifth, racking up six hits and five runs.

Rollins will be back in action on Saturday, March 29 when they will travel to Benedict (S.C.) for a South Region doubleheader.
