No. 9 Rollins Collects Fifth Consecutive Win Over Mercy

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 25, 2008) - Behind a solid doubles effort, the 9th-ranked Rollins men's tennis team got another win over Mercy College 6-3 on Tuesday afternoon. The victory brings the Tars' record to 12-3 overall.

Finishing first on the afternoon, the No. 3 team of Adrian Tan and Bill Rockwood defeated Mehdi Rhazali and Christian Cheuque 8-1. The top doubles duo of Brian Compton and Jonathan Gomez came in second by winning their match against Zeki Tukel and Carl Johnson 8-5. Gustavo Carvalho and Pablo Seijo rounded out the doubles sweep with a win over Yusufcan Koksal and Timon Prosper 8-5 in the No. 2.

Three singles matches went the Tars' way as Compton had a straight sets win over Tukel 6-2, 6-4 in the No. 1, Tan rolled past Prosper 6-0, 6-1 in the third position and Seijo blanked Cheuque 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6. Gomez and Duvall fell in the No. 2 and No. 5 spots, while Carvalho was forced to retire with injury at the No. 4.

The Tars will be back in action tomorrow, March 26 when they host Loughborough-UK in a scrimmage at 2:30 p.m.
