No. 9 Rollins Can't Hold On Agaist No. 3 Lynn

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 30, 2008) - The third-ranked Lynn University men's tennis team rolled through singles play in a 7-2 victory over No. 9 Rollins in Sunshine State Conference action on Sunday. Down 2-1 after doubles, the Fighting Knights responded with a 6-0 sweep in singles to down the Tars in the road.

Lynn (12-4, 4-1 SSC) found itself in uncharted waters after losing two-of-three doubles matches to start the contest. Julien Carsuzaa and Diego Rodriguez fell to No. 13 Brian Compton and Jonathan Gomez 8-5 in the top position while Alessandro Sarra and Axel Joachim were nipped 9-7 by Gustavo Carvalho and Pablo Seijo in the third spot.

The Knights picked up their lone doubles point in the second flight as Lorenzo Cava and Tomas Racak cruised to an 8-2 decision over Austin Duvall and Bill Rockwood.

Trailing 2-1 after doubles, Lynn had few problems completing the singles sweep over the Tars. Five of the six victories were won in straight sets.

Tenth-ranked Cava defeated No. 45 Compton 6-2, 6-4 in the first slot while ninth-ranked Carsuzaa breezed to a 6-0, 6-1 win over No. 48 Gomez in the second position. Racak won 6-4, 7-6(5) against Adrian Tan in the third spot, Diego Rodriguez topped Carvalho 6-2, 6-2 in the fourth flight and Joachim beat Duvall 6-4, 7-6(6) at No. 6 singles.

Rollins' only set won in singles came in the fifth position as Lynn's Sarra clamped down to defeat Seijo 6-3, 3-6, 6-1 after going up a set to start the match.

Rollins (12-4, 1-2) will be back in action on Wednesday, April 3 when they take on the Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish at 3:30 p.m.
