Tars Roll Past Thorobreds in Two Five-Inning Contests

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 11, 2008) ' Rachael Foster tossed her second straight no-hitter as Missy Thogmartin notched six RBI for Rollins. The Tars (12-8) took game one 16-0 in five innings and won 15-0 in the five inning night cap.

Nicole Anderson picked up the game one victory, allowing only one hit in 20 batters as she struck out 12 and walked three. Foster faced the minimum 15 batters and struck out 11, only walking one.

Sherri Rabenold went 5-6 on the day as she tallied one double, one triple and three RBI. Meghan Shaw had a personal best going 2-4 with four RBI, as Thogmartin went 3-8 registering two doubles, one homerun and six RBI against the Thorobreds. Catcher Christine Roser continued her pace by going 3-6 with two doubles and four RBI.

Rollins scored their first runs of the evening in the second inning as Vanessa Volkema singled to bring home Lauren Starcher. Volkema was brought home by Shaw for the Tars' second run, 2-0. Rollins had a huge third inning, scoring eight runs on six hits, 10-0. The Tars rounded out their Game One scoring in the fourth inning scoring six more runs on five hits, 16-0.

In the night cap, Rabenold led things off with a triple to right field, her third of the season. She would eventually score off of a Thogmartin ground out, 1-0. The Tars notched two more runs in the second inning with Foster singling to right field, followed by Volkema tripling to first base to send Foster home. Volkema scored on an Allison Taylor ground out, 3-0. Rollins once again had another big third inning, bringing home eight runs on five hits, 11-0. Four more runs on three hits would score in the fourth inning as Rollins went on to blank Kentucky State 15-0 in Game Two.

Rollins will be back in action tomorrow, March 12 as they take on the Kentucky State Thorobreds in an afternoon doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 12:30 p.m.
