10th-Ranked Tars Topple Saints to Win Three Straight

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 25, 2008) ' The Rollins men's tennis team continued to roll as they won their third consecutive match this afternoon. The Tars made easy work of the Flagler College Saints 8-1 at the Bert Martin Tennis Complex.

Rollins captured all three doubles matches as 13th-ranked Jonathan Gomez and Brian Compton won their fourth straight match against David Cotrone and Harry Snoxell 8-3 in the No. 1 position. Pablo Seijo and Gustavo Carvalho rallied past Aaron Haines and Kyle Maloof 8-4 in the second seed, while Adrian Tan and Bill Rockwood battled back to defeat Jeremy Lamanade and Stephen Coulis 9-8 in the No. 3.

The Tars won the top three matches in straight sets as Compton topped Cotrone 6-1, 6-4 in the No. 1 as Gomez beat Haines 6-3, 6-1 in the second slot. Tan outlasted Maloof 7-6, 6-1 in the No. 3, while Seijo rebounded to defeat Snoxell 3-6, 6-1, 6-2. Austin Duvall remained undefeated on the season by running past Cody Gordon 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 6 as fifth seed Carvalho fell to Coulis 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

The Tars (3-1, 1-0) will be back in action on Thursday, February 28 when they travel to Saint Leo to take on the Lions (1-5, 0-2) at 3:00 p.m.
