WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 24, 2008) ' Freshman attacker Liz Connelly would score four unassisted goals, three of which were from free position shots on the 8-meter, in Sunday afternoon's 16-6 loss to the preseason ranked #10 Mercyhurst College Lakers.' The Tars drop to 0-2, while the Lakers improve to 2-0.

Freshmen midfielders Courtney Bianculli and Katy Tyszko would each add a goal to the scoreboard, with Bianculli dodging defenders from the top of the arc to place her shot in the back of the cage, and Tyszko finding her ball in the back of the net off of another Rollins free position shot from the arc.'

Connelly walked away from the game after a big day in the midfield as she snagged 10 out of 15 draw controls for the Tars, matching the total team amount for the Lakers.

The Mercyhurst Lakers were led by junior attacker Breanna Haggerty, who scored six of the Lakers' 16 goals.' Haggerty was followed by junior attacker Katy Miller who posted three goals, as well as seven more Lakers who posted one goal each on their way to the final goal count for the afternoon.

The Tars fell to an eight goal deficit in the first 25 minutes of the game, but were finally able to put a goal up on the scoreboard with 5:14 left in the first half off of a free position shot from Connelly.' Mercyhurst would continue to run up the goal count as the first half came to a close, and entered into the halftime break with an 11-1 lead over the Tars.

Rollins would find the back of the cage five times in the second half, with three of their goals coming from free position shots off of Mercyhurst fouls within the 8 meter arc.' The Lakers would ultimately outshoot the Tars 27-19, but Rollins held onto the ball well throughout the contest as they tried to work through their plays and maintain possession in order to keep midfield transitions to a minimum.

The Tars will be back in action on Monday, February 25 at 3:00 p.m. as they take on the Notre Dame College Falcons in their second home game at Showalter Field in Winter Park.' Fans can watch and listen to all the action live on the Citizens Bank of Florida Tars Sports Network at RollinsSports.tv.
