WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (February 23, 2008) ' The
Rollins women's tennis team continued to roll as they took out the
Palm Beach Atlantic Sailfish 7-2 on Saturday afternoon.
The Tars (4-0) swept doubles play and all three duos remained
undefeated as Marnie Mahler and Roshni Luthra toppled Lina Rubiano
and Natalie Aleman 8-3 in the top spot. In the No. 2 Sonia Bernal
and Margaret Junker blanked Montserrat Rippol and Krishna Domenech
8-0. Silvia Frandji and Anastasiya Shevchenko defeated Kelly
Schwartz and Katie Livesay 8-1 in the third position.
In singles action, No. 27 Mahler had an easy time against
Rubiano 6-0, 6-1 in the No. 1, while Bernal fell in her second
match of the season against Rippol 3-6, 7-6, 10-5 in the second
seed. Shevchenko outlasted Aleman in the No. 3 6-4, 3-6, 10-5,
while Junker overwhelmed Domenech 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4. Frandji
won her match in the fifth slot 6-0, 6-0 against Schwartz. Livesay
won Palm Beach Atlantic's only singles match by default.
Rollins will be back in action on Saturday, March 1 when they
take on the Barry University Buccaneers at 9:00 a.m.
