10th-Ranked Rollins Takes Easy Win Over John Carroll

WINTER PARK, Fla. (February 27, 2008) ' Only dropping two total games in both singles and doubles play, the Rollins women's tennis team routed Division III John Carroll University 9-0 on Wednesday afternoon at the Bert Martin Tennis Complex.

All three doubles duos remained perfect on the season as 14th-ranked Marnie Mahler and Roshni Luthra made easy work of Sara Crane and Alison Balestrino 8-0 in the No. 1. In the second match, Sonia Bernal and Margaret Junker rolled past Anna Navatsyk and Amy Marchlen 8-0. Silvia Frandji and Anastasiya Shevchenko took out Ashley Bauer and Hillary Fulp in the third seed 8-2.

Top seeded Mahler defeated Crane 6-1, 6-0, while Bernal knocked out Navatsyk 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 2. Shevchenko dispatched of Marchlen 6-0, 6-0 in the fourth spot and Luthra took care of Balestrino 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 4. Margaret Junker posted a shutout over Bauer 6-0, 6-0 in the fifth seed, while Frandji finished out on top by defeating Kate Lawson 6-0, 6-0 in the No. 6.

The Tars (5-0) will be back in action when they play host to conference rival Barry University (7-1, 4-0) at 9:00 a.m.
