The Rollins College men's basketball travels to West Palm Beach,
Fla., for the first of two contests against host, Palm Beach
Atlantic.
The Sailfish are slated to return the trip to Winter Park,
Wednesday, Jan. 21 at 7 p.m.
The Tars own the all-time record against Palm Beach Atlantic, 12-1
and are currently riding a six-game winning streak in the
series.
Last year, the Tars defeated the Sailfish twice by an average of
24.5 points. At Palm Beach, Rollins defeated the Sailfish, 86-64
backed behind a 25-point performance from All-American Jonny
Reibel, while Ryan Ferranti hauled in a team-high seven boards. At
Warden Arena, the Tars relied on Craig Reichel's 17 points and
Chauncey Gibbs' six rebounds to earn the 76-49 victory.
The lone win for PBA occurred, Nov. 21, 1998 at Winter Park,
84-76.
Both teams enter Wednesday's game coming off loses. After building
momentum and a three-game winning streak the Sailfish were tripped
up by Florida Tech, who remained unbeaten with the 84-78 victory in
Melbourne, Fla.
The Tars dropped its first game of the season to Puerto
Rico-Bayamon, 88-82 at home. The loss was the first in November by
a NCAA Division II team since the 2005-06 season.
Rollins has been led offensively by sophomore guard Jeremy
Sharpe's 17.5 points per game. Senior guard Kevin Hogan trails
averaging 13.8 ppg. The Tars are currently shooting 51.1 percent
from the field and 44.2 from beyond-the-arc, averaging 85.0
ppg.
