No. 19 Rollins and Albany State were tied at the half, but the Tars
ran away down the stretch, beating the Rams 67-51 on day two of the
RollinsSportsStore.com Challenge.
Head Coach Glenn Wilkes, Jr. earned career victory number 497
Monday and will lead the Tars into the Sunshine State Conference
season with a perfect 10-0 record. Albany State falls to 3-5 on the
year.

Daiger led the Tars with 16 points, six rebounds and two
blocks. Ines
Teuma added 10 points and a game high eight rebounds.
Rollins dominated on the glass, rolling up a 44-20 rebounding
edge. The Tars shot 24-for-57 from the floor (42 percent) while
holding the Rams to just 19-for-52 (37 percent).
Nikia Trice netted 13 points to lead Albany State with Nafeesha
Frost adding 11.
The Tars held the Rams scoreless through the first four and a
half minutes, building a 6-0 lead in the early going. Rollins took
a 16-10 lead with 10:59 to go, but a Phanesha Jones jumper sparked
a Rams 10-0 run over the next four minutes to put the visitors up
16-20. Rollins eventually came back to knot the score at 28 at the
half, holding Albany State scoreless the final two minutes of the
period.
Rollins took control of the second half early, outscoring the
Rams by 15 to take a 49-34 lead midway through the period. The
advantage ballooned to as much as 23 with three minutes left as the
Tars cruised to their 10 straight win.
Rollins will jump into Sunshine State Conference action on
Saturday as they will travel to Saint Leo for a 2 p.m. match-up.
The Lions are 7-3 on the year and have been idle since December
18th.
