WINTER PARK, Fla. (December 29, 2008) – Rollins rolled up 50 first half points and cruised to a 93-67 win over Concordia (N.Y.) in the 34th annual Winter Park Rotary Tangerine Tournament Monday.

Senior guard Kevin Hogan netted 11 points in the game and eclipsed the 1,000 career point mark.

Rollins (7-3) advances to play Flagler at 8 p.m. in the tournament championship on Tuesday, December 30th. The Saints earned the right to play for the title by taking a 60-59 thriller over West Georgia in the Tangerine Tournament's opening game.

Sophomores Jeremy Sharpe and Nick Wolf led the Tars with 21 points each. Wolf added a game-high nine rebounds with Sharpe gathering up six. Zach Pancratz chipped in 10 points with nine assists.

Samuel Batista led the Clippers (2-10) with 15 points and eight boards. Kenny Gaskins recorded a double-double with 14 points and 10 assists while William Eason added 11.

The Tars shot 53 percent (28-of-53) from the floor, including a 55 percent (18-of-33) night from beyond the arc. The Tars swarming zone defense proved to be a huge factor as Concordia shot just 38 percent (24-for-62) in the game.

It was all Rollins right from the opening tip as the hosts rolled up a 30-9 advantage halfway through the first period. Daniel Olsen hit a jumper for the Clippers to get the lead under 20, but the Tars outscored Concordia 18-6 over the next seven minutes to push the lead to 31 with just under four minutes to play. Concordia fought back as a Pancratz free throw with four tick left made the score 50-22 in favor of Rollins.

The visitors from New York didn't back down in the second half and used a 14-2 run in the middle of the period to pull to within 13, 73-60, with five minutes left. The Tars then tightened up and held on down the stretch to advance to the Tangerine Tournament championship game for the 11th straight year.
