SEARCY, Ark. The Rollins College
volleyball team dropped consecutive matches against Henderson State
and Ouachita Baptist in a pair of non-conference matches, Friday
evening at the Rhodes Fieldhouse.
The Tars (16-11) were swept in their first contest against HSU
(3-19), 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-23), before losing 3-1 (28-26, 23-25,
25-18, 25-11) in the finale against Ouachita Baptist.
In the first contest, Rollins was limited to an attacking
percentage of .168 compared to the hitting percentage of .255 from
Henderson State. Leading the way for Rollins was Stephanie
Nichols' 13 kills and junior outside Nikki Hartman's 12.
Senior setter Lacey Malarky paced the Tars with 26 assists,
while Corder averaged six digs per set in the three-set match.
In finale, Hartman paved the way offensively with 14 kills,
while sophomore Caitlin Vyborny trailed with 10. Providing the
assists was sophomore Erin Wareham with 33 assists.
Rollins put forth one of its best defensive contest collecting
77 digs, 25 coming from the freshman Corder. Hartman dropped in 18
to record the double-double, while freshman defensive specialist
Sarah Carr tallied 10.
Rollins returns to action, Saturday, Oct. 18, at 11 a.m. (CST)
against Harding.
