MELBOURNE, Fla. (January 9, 2008) ' The
backcourt tandem of Jonny Reibel and Kevin Hogan combined for 53
points as the fifth ranked Rollins men's basketball team downed
11th ranked Florida Tech 81-65 on Wednesday evening at a packed
house at the Clemente Center.
Reibel led the way with 29 points going 8-12 from the floor,
6-10 from long range and 7-8 from the charity stripe. Hogan netted
24, shooting 50 percent from the field and from behind the arc to
go along with a team best seven rebounds. Craig Reichel added 12
points and six boards for the Tars.
Rollins took the early lead, but with five minutes ticked off
the clock Florida Tech came back to tie the game, 11-11 with a
layup from Justin Sedlak. The Tars would widen the gap to 12
(34-22) with 3:20 left in the half as Reibel knocked down 11 points
for Rollins in 10 minutes.
The Tars held a 35-24 lead at the half and raced out to a 20
point advantage in the middle of the second half. The Panthers
would only get within 11 points in the second stanza as they
controlled the floor by going 46.4 percent from the field, 46.2
percent from three point range and 88.2 percent from the free throw
line.
Sedlak led the way for the Panthers with a double-double of 18
points and 10 boards with Arthur Richardson knocking down 15.
The win moves Rollins to 12-1 overall and 2-1 in Sunshine State
Conference play while Florida Tech falls to 11-1, 1-1.
The Tars will be back in action on Saturday, January 12 when
they host non-conference Palm Beach Atlantic. Tip off is slated for
