The Tars bounced back' from a heartbreaking loss with a 62-56
victory over the Wheeling Jesuit Cardinals on Jan. 2 in the Alfond
Sports Center.' The Tars advanced to 7-2 on the season, while the
Cardinals dropped to 2-6.' The Tars had two players notch
double-doubles, and four players walk away with points in the
double-digits.
IN THE RANKINGS
Rollins College is not currently ranked in the Division II
Polls, and is 0-1 in Sunshine State Conference play.
LOOKING AHEAD
The Tars will be on the road for the next three games, two
of which are SSC match-ups.' Rollins will take on Florida Tech on
Jan. 9, and Flagler three days later on the 12.' After that, the
Tars will have a well deserved home game against SSC opponent Nova
Southeastern.' This will be the first SSC game of the season for
Saint Leo, Florida Tech is currently 0-1 like Rollins, and Nova
Southeastern is one up on the Tars with a 1-0 SSC record.
SERIES VS. SAINT LEO
Rollins currently leads the series 61-8.
SCOUTING THE TARS
Rollins has been back and forth in the shooting percentage
range, coming out strong some games, and faltering in others.' As
the season progresses, though, the Tars seem to be settling into a
rhythm with players like Jennifer Musgrove, Brittainy Daiger,
Rachael Malatesta, and Jessica Pressley recording impressive
figures in the way of double-doubles, and reaching double-digits in
the stat book.
SCOUTING THE LIONS
The Lions are coming into this game after a hard fought
battle against Alabama-Huntsville in an overtime struggle that
ended in a 77-76 Saint Leo defeat. Senior Latasha Lawrence scored
22 points for the Lions, with Amanda Holloway adding 11, and
Dominique Daniels contributing a double-double of 10 points, 11
assists to the final tally.
LAST TIME OUT
Rollins and Saint Leo faced off last year in February on the Lions'
turf.' Rollins was able to travel home with an 83-66 victory over
the home team.
TARS TIDBITS
Rollins' last game against Wheeling Jesuit saw double-doubles from
both senior Jennifer Musgrove and sophomore Brittiany Daiger; it
was Musgrove's third of the season, and Daiger's first of her
career at Rollins.
