LAKELAND, Fla. (January 26, 2008) ' Jessica
Pressley and Brittainy Daiger each scored 15 points to lead
Rollins, but it wasn't enough to get past surging Florida Southern
as the Tars dropped a 76-63 decision to the Lady Mocs on
Saturday.
Rollins (10-6, 2-5) shot 53 percent from the field in the first
half and 43 percent for the game while the Mocs (11-7, 4-4) knocked
down 45 percent on the night.
Pressley added six rebounds to go with her 15 points with Daiger
gathering 12 of her 15 points after halftime. Ines Teuma and
Rachael Malatesta each netted nine with Teuma also gathering a team
best nine rebounds.
Chelsea Johnson knocked down five three pointers for 15 points
to lead the balanced Florida Southern attack. Emer Foley and
Kquanise Byrd each added 14 points.
Jennifer Musgrove, who handed out a game high eight assists, hit
a layup five minutes in to give the Tars an 11-10 lead. Rollins
then went cold from the field and the Mocs took advantage, rattling
off 16-2 run over the next five minutes to open up a 13 point lead,
26-13. The Tars came back to cut the deficit to seven before
ultimately heading to the locker room down 12, 37-25.
The Tars cut the Mocs lead to nine, five minutes into the second
frame, but again hot shooting FSC had the answer and went up by as
much as 20 with five minutes left.
Rollins will look to get back on the winning track on Wednesday,
January 30 when they will host Sunshine State Conference foe
Eckerd. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. Fans can watch all the
