SAVANNAH, Ga. (January 26, 2008) ' The Rollins
men's swim team earned nine second place finishes, but couldn't get
the top of the podium in any event as the Tars fell to Savannah
College of Art & Design 140-60 on Saturday.
Daniel Paulling had a busy day, picking up a runner-up finish
and a pair of third places. The senior was second in the 1000 yard
freestyle in a time of 10:27.17. He also recorded a third place in
the 400 yard IM in 4:33.30 and the 500 yard freestyle in
5:06.17.
The day started with a second place finish by the 200 yard
medley relay team of Colby Loetz, Jackson Nicholson, Jeff Mueller
and Carson Nicely as they stopped the clock at 1:43.34. Nicholson
went on to pick up a second place finish in the 200 freestyle in
1:48.60. Nicely was second in the 50 yard freestyle (22.88) and
teamed with Loetz, Mueller, and Brad Rubash to finish second in the
200 freestyle relay in 1:31.95. Loetz added a second place finish
in the 100 yard backstroke in 56.41 while Paul Hoffman came in
third in 1:02.00.
Hoffman was second in the 400 yard IM in 4:32.39 while Kamel
Tejeda took second in the 500 yard freestyle (5:04.71) and Tom
Alexander was second in the 100 yard freestyle (49.90).
The Rollins swim teams will look to get back to their winning
ways on Saturday, February 2 when they will host Florida Southern
in the final dual meet of the season. The first event is set to
leave the blocks at 1 p.m.
