Huge Second Half Takes Fighting Knights Past No. 4 Tars

WINTER PARK, Fla. (January 19, 2008) ' Outscoring the Tars by 20 points in the second half, the Lynn University Fighting Knights downed No. 4 Rollins 77-68 on Saturday afternoon at Warden Arena. The Tars drop to 14-2, 3-2 while the Fighting Knights move to 10-6, 4-2.

Craig Reichel was the Tars' leading scorer as he notched 17 points and six rebounds shooting 50 percent from the floor. Nick Wolf registered 14 point and six boards going 5-8 from the field while Jonny Reibel totaled 12 points and nine assists. Kevin Hogan tallied 10 points and one steal in the Tars' loss.

Lynn and Rollins both had 20 points in the paint, while Lynn took over in second chance points 14-11 and points from the bench 21-17.

Rollins had a big first half as they led Lynn from the 10-minute mark, 18-16, until the halftime buzzer, 41-30. The Fighting Knights came out hot in the second half as they cut the Tars' lead to three with a good three point bucket by Randy Jones, 54-51. From there, the Fighting Knights took over from that point with a pair of three's by Luke Postorino and Michael Baptiste to give Lynn a 57-54 lead.

The Tars clawed their way back to tie the score 60-60 with a jumper from Jeremy Sharpe, but Lynn would take control for the remainder of the game. With five minutes left in the game, Lynn's Chris Hall drove to the basket for an easy lay-up to put the Fighting Knights up by three. In the final seconds of the game, Postorino sealed the Lynn victory with another shot from behind the arc, 73-65. Rollins would not recover as they fell to the Fighting Knights 77-68.

Six Lynn players scored in double-figures including Jones who had 14 points and six assists. Postorino came in with 12 points and five assists, while Hall and Ed Millard checked in with 11 points a piece. Forward Hans Schur and Michael Baptiste tallied 10 points each with Baptiste grabbing 10 rebounds.

Rollins is the second ranked team that Lynn has defeated this week as the Fighting Knights downed No. 11 Florida Tech 88-83 on Wednesday, January 16.

Rollins (14-2, 3-2) will be back in action on Wednesday, January 23 when they travel to Miami Shores to take on the Barry University Buccaneers (6-10, 0-4) at 7:30 p.m. Fans can listen to the action live at www.RollinsSports.tv.
