Rollins, the two-time defending Sunshine State Conference
champions, will be looking to even their SSC record tonight against
upstart Nova Southeastern. The Tars dropped their SSC opener to
Tampa, and then needed overtime to down Saint Leo for their first
conference win. The Tars lost to Tech the last time in SSC play to
put the Tars at 2-1...
Nova Southeastern, who only won nine games all of last year, is
off to a great start this season. They dropped two non-conference
games to Barry and Lynn to begin the year, but have been on track
as of late. The Sharks are on a two game winning streak having beat
Flagler by 40 and Eckerd by 12 their last two games.
SSC STANDINGS
Rollins is 9-3 overall and 1-2 in SSC play, putting them in seventh
place...Nova Southeastern is 9-5 overall and 2-1 in SSC play,
putting them in a tie for third.
SERIES VS. NOVA SOUTHEASTERN
Rollins has a career record of 12-2 versus Nova Southeastern, and
the Tars have won five in a row over the Sharks.
SCOUTING THE TARS
Jennifer Musgrove leads the Tars with 14.8 points per
game, 4.6 assists, and 3.0 steals per game. Ines Teuma (8.6 rpg)
and Musgrove (8.0 rpg) leading the team in rebounds, and the solid
sophomore combo of Brittainy Daiger and Jessica Pressley help
increase the score pulling in 9.3 points per game each.'
SCOUTING THE SHARKS
In their last game against the Eckerd College Tritons,
Stephanie Sarosi tallied 25 points 10 rebounds, and LaShawnna
Edwards scored a career-high 14 points on 4-of-5 shooting and
6-of-6 free throw shooting as the Sharks defeated the Tritons by a
score of 86-74. The Sharks shot 57.7 percent from the field, and
95.4 percent from the charity stripe.
LOOKING AHEAD
Rollins will host Lynn on Saturday at 2 p.m....Nova Southeastern
will travel to Saint Leo for a 2 p.m. match-up.
LAST TIME OUT
Rollins came out on top against the Sharks 67-58 on February 3,
2007. Rollins was led by senior forward Larissa McDonough who
notched a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. She also
shot eight of 10 from the charity stripe. Guard Jessica Barker
added 11 points and three rebounds, while Jennifer Dyer had 10
points and eight rebounds.
TARS TIDBITS
With 975 career points, Jennifer Musgrove is only 25 away from
reaching the 1,000 point mark. Musgrove is quickly climbing the
charts on the career leaderboard.' She is also sixth in steals with
268, 10th in assists so far with an ongoing career total of 286,
seventh with 90 all-time three point field goals and ninth in
rebounds with 641.
