WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 7, 2007) ' The
Rollins women's soccer team went into overtime with no score
against West Florida on Friday night at Barker Family Stadium, but
the Tars allowed a goal in the 93rd minute to lose 1-0. Rollins
dropped to 2-3 with the loss, and the Argonauts evened their record
at 2-2.
The game-winner came when Lura Carter and Denelle Mascall
connected on a pass deep into the Rollins defensive end, and
Mascall found Jodi Galucci in the penalty area for the breakaway
goal.
Freshman goalkeeper Stina Lykke Petersen saved nine of 10 UWF
shots on goal in her Rollins debut. Argonauts keeper Courtney Jones
saved six shots to pick up the shutout.
The teams were evenly matched through the first period, with UWF
taking eight shots to Rollins' seven. The Argonauts started putting
more pressure on the Rollins defense in the second half, firing off
nine shots to the Tars' six. UWF also held the corner kick
advantage 8-7.
Rollins will return to Barker Family Stadium for a match against
NAIA opponent Thomas on Sunday, September 9. Kickoff is scheduled
for noon, and fans can watch and listen to all the action live on
