WINTER PARK, Fla. (September 12, 2007) ' The Rollins women's soccer team came into Wednesday's non-conference game at Barker Family Stadium with a high-powered offense, and the Tars showed their attacking prowess once again, shooting 36 times and scoring four goals in a 4-1 victory over Embry-Riddle. The Tars improved their record to 4-3 with the win, while the Eagles fell to 2-4.

Rollins received two goals from junior forward Lindsay Giblin and one each from freshman forward Jessica Deese and junior midfielder Jessica Mooney. Five players added assists, including Deese, freshman defender Julie Gatt, Giblin, sophomore defender Joy Powell, and freshman defender Meagan Thomas.

Despite the Tars' offensive pressure, it was Embry-Riddle who got on the board first. A free kick by Valerie Rogers in the seventh minute found Elina Johansson at the far post, and the freshman forward headed the ball off the post and over the line for the game's first goal. The Tars responded in the 26th minute with the tying and go-ahead goals; Giblin scored at the 25:21 mark off a corner kick by Deese and a headed pass by Thomas, and Deese's goal came at the 25:56 mark off a rebound from a shot by Gatt. The Tars attempted 22 shots in the first half compared to just two for the Eagles.

Rollins added to their lead in the second half on a spectacular goal by Mooney in the 64th minute. Stina Lykke Petersen made a sprawling save on a shot following an Embry-Riddle corner kick, and the Tars countered quickly with Giblin finding Mooney at the top of the box for a shot inside the left post. The fourth and final score for Rollins came at the 74:52 mark when Powell passed to Giblin in the midfield, and Giblin cut inside and shot it past the keeper for her sixth goal of the year.

Lykke Petersen stopped three shots on goal for the Tars. Brelyn Bingham and Stephanie Taylor split time in goal for the Eagles, each allowing two goals while Taylor stopped six shots and Bingham five.

Rollins finished the game with a 36-6 shot advantage, and the Tars also attempted eight corner kicks to the Eagles' three.

Rollins will start Sunshine State Conference play on Saturday, September 15 with a match against Barry at Barker Family Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m., and fans can watch and listen to all the action live at the Tars Sports Network at www.RollinsSports.tv.
