MONTEVALLO, Ala. (August 31, 2007) ' Junior Lindsay Giblin scored two goals and notched two assists in the Rollins women's soccer team's first win of the season, a 5-3 shootout at regional opponent Montevallo on Friday night.' Rollins improved to 1-2 on the season, and the Falcons dropped to 1-2 with the loss.

The contest was delayed more than an hour as the teams waited out thunderstorms and tardy officials.

The barrage of goals started in the 22nd minute when Giblin took a through ball from senior Jeri Ostuw down the right side, turned toward the middle, and blasted a shot past Montevallo goalkeeper Corey Gros.' The Falcons scored just three minutes later on a goal by Erin Jollay, but the Tars regained the lead after just 24 seconds on a goal by sophomore Joy Powell, who was assisted by freshman Chelsea Brady.' Giblin pushed the Rollins lead to 3-1 with a goal in the 41st minute when she received a pass from the corner by freshman Jessica Deese and drove it past the keeper.

A missed penalty kick by Rollins early in the second half seemed to give Montevallo the momentum, and the Falcons converted on a penalty kick of their own, taken by Stacey Balaam, in the 62nd minute.' Montevallo tied the game at three one minute later when Kami Kapaku headed a cross past Rollins' goalkeeper Stephanie Woelfel.' Deese turned things around and gave Rollins the go-ahead score in the 69th minute when she received a pass from Giblin off a short corner kick and chipped the ball over the keeper and into the net.' Brady gave the Tars an insurance goal nine minutes later, collecting a pass from Giblin and winning a one-versus-one situation with the keeper.

Woelfel saved two shots in her 90 minutes in goal for the Tars, while Gros saved nine for Montevallo.'

Rollins controlled the pace of the game and attempted 23 shots compared to just eight for the opponents.

The Tars will be back in action on Sunday, September 2 in a regional match at Alabama-Huntsville.' Kickoff is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. local time (6:00 p.m. ET), and fans can listen to all the action live on the Tars Sports Network at www.RollinsSports.tv.
