ALBANY, Ga. (April 6, 2007) ' The Rollins
College softball team regained momentum in a big way as they swept
the Albany State Lady Rams in two regional games on Friday
afternoon at Lady Rams Park. Rollins won the first game 10-0 and
9-4 in Game Two action.
The Tars (30-9, 5-4) were led by centerfielder Lauren Winney who
went 3-4 in Game One with three RBI knocking two runs home. First
baseman Sherri Rabenold notched her sixth homerun of the season as
she was 2-5 with five RBI and two runs.
Ingrid Schumacher contributed to the Tars' win going 3-4 with
one RBI, and shortstop Lauren Starcher went 2-4, hitting her sixth
double of the season.
Nicole Anderson had a stellar afternoon in the circle pitching a
two-hitter and striking out 14 Lady Rams batters. Anderson now
holds a 19-7 record and a .46 ERA on the season with 260
strikeouts.
In the second game, Amanda DeFilippo guided the Tars' offense
going 3-4 with two RBI, while Winney went a perfect 4-4 on the
afternoon. Rabenold stole her 29th base of the season going 2-4
with two RBI. In the box, Schumacher added two hits in three at
bats with two RBI in the Tars' win over the Lady Rams.
On the mound, Schumacher gave up four runs on seven hits,
striking out seven while tallying her 11th win of the season.
Mindy Mager received the Game One loss, while Melissa Hurst got
the loss for the Lady Rams in the second game.
Rollins will be back in action on Friday, April 13 as they take
on the Nova Southeastern Sharks (22-22, 2-7) in a weekend series.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the AD Griffin Sports
Complex.
