SAINT LEO, Fla. (April 25, 2007) ' The Rollins
softball team fell in both games of the conference doubleheader to
Saint Leo on Wednesday evening at University Field. The Game One
score was 2-0 in favor of the Lions and then 1-0 in the second
game.
Sherri Rabenold went 3-5 on the evening, while shortstop Lauren
Starcher went 2-6. Nicole Anderson picked up her second straight
loss in Game One pitching six innings, giving up six hits and two
runs and striking out 14. Ingrid Schumacher stepped into the circle
in the second game pitching six innings, while striking out
three.
Saint Leo senior left fielder Hayley Mallory went 2-for-6 and
drove in game-winning runs in both contests. Ashley Urbanik was the
winning pitcher in both contests, improving to 24-11 on the season.
She tossed a complete game two-hitter in game one, as the Lions
secured at least the series win. She then came on in relief of Kiki
VonHolt to work the final three innings in a combined shutout.
The Tars (35-13, 10-8) will be back in action in a weekend
series beginning on Friday, April 27 against the Tampa Spartans.
First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Lake Island Park.
