WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 28, 2007) ' Rollins
tallied three homers in game two and Tampa knocked three in the
opener as the Tars and Spartans split an unorthodox Sunshine State
Conference doubleheader on Saturday. Game one was a continuation of
Friday's rain-halted series opener with Tampa winning 6-1. Game two
was all Rollins as they posted a 3-1 victory. The split improves
Rollins to 36-14, 11-9 SSC while Tampa moves to 29-19, 14-9
SSC.
Junior Sherri Rabenold went 3-6 on the day to lead the Tars and
with a homerun in game one, broke the Tars single season hits
record with 69. Sophomore Jamie Rausch batted 2-4 with a homer
while Stacy Sanders and Lauren Starcher also each hit homeruns.

Back on Friday night, Tampa cracked the scoreboard in the first
to go up 1-0. A rain delay in the top of the second inning then
halted the game until Saturday morning. UT went up 2-0 with a run
in the sixth before Rabenold blasted a shot over the centerfield
wall to make it 2-1. The Spartans hung four in the top of the
seventh to close it out and come away with the win.
In the second game, Tampa again scored in the first to take a
1-0 lead. Back to back solo homers by Sanders and Rausch in the
fourth put the Tars up 2-1 and Starcher supplied the exclamation
point with a solo shot in the sixth to give Rollins the 3-1
win.
Rollins and Tampa will conclude their SSC series with a single
game on Sunday, April 29 at Lake Island Park. Game time is
tentatively scheduled for 11 a.m.
