SAINT LEO, Fla. (April 24, 2007) ' A Tars late
seventh inning run was not enough as the Rollins softball team
succumbed to the Saint Leo Lions 5-2 on Tuesday evening at
University Field.
Leading the way for the Tars was left fielder Jamie Rausch who
went 1-2 on the evening, notching her sixth homerun of the season.
Lauren Winney, Lauren Starcher, Victoria Rudolph, Sherri Rabenold
and Amanda DeFilippo contributed with one single a piece, while
shortstop Rachel Almengual hit her eighth double.
Sophomore Nicole Anderson (23-9) picked up her ninth loss as she
tossed in 15 strikeouts in six innings pitched.
Designated player Ally Maddox tallied her seventh homerun for
the Lions (31-20, 13-9), and Ashley Urbanik won her 22nd game in
the circle for Saint Leo.
The Tars (35-11, 10-6) forged a formidable comeback in the top
of the seventh inning, as Rausch hit a walk off homerun, followed
by a DeFilippo single down the left field line. Starcher then
slammed a single to left field, as Rudolph reached first base on a
fielder's choice. Winney hit a shot to second base to load the
bases for Rabenold who knocked in her 43rd RBI of the season.
Rollins will be back in action tomorrow, April 25 when they take
on the Lions in a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00
p.m.
