WINTER PARK, Fla. (April 2, 2007) ' Without
dropping a match, the Rollins men's tennis team ran past the Saint
Leo Lions 9-0 on Monday afternoon at the Bert Martin Complex. The
Tars are rolling with a seven-game home winning streak.
Rollins (14-7, 2-2) swept all three doubles contests on the
afternoon. The No. 1 team of Brian Compton and Jonathan Gomez
demolished Neil Watson and Lin-David Lohmueller 8-1. In the second
seed bout, Gustavo Carvalho and Pablo Seijo thrashed David Farinez
and Brandon Stacey 8-2. Mike Compton and Adrian Tan overpowered
Mohammed Noorsumar and Gregory Strange 8-6 in the No. 3
position.
The Tars also captured all six singles matches to blank Saint
Leo (4-11). B. Compton was leading 6-3, 4-1 before Watson retired
with injury in the No. 1 spot. Gomez defeated Stacey 6-0, 6-1 in
the second seed, while Seijo also recorded a straight set win over
El Naamani 6-1, 6-1 in the No. 3 seed. Noah John continued to stay
perfect on the season by beating Noorsumar 7-5, 4-6, 10-4 in the
fourth contest. Kevin Stickney blanked Strange 6-0, 6-0 in the No.
5, and Bill Rockwood suppressed Michael DelPriore 6-4, 7-6 in the
sixth slot.
Rollins will be back in action on Saturday, April 7 when they
play host to the Florida Southern Mocassins (15-3, 4-0) at 11:00
a.m.
