WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 7, 2007) ' Lauren Starcher blasted her first two career home runs, including a walk off to end game two, and Sherri Rabenold also deposited two over the fence as the Rollins softball team swept Lake Superior State by scores of 5-1 and 10-2 (5 innings) on Wednesday. Rollins improves to 16-6 with the sweep and drops Lake Superior State to 2-8.

Starcher ended the day going 4-6 with six RBI and two runs scored. Her first homerun came in the fourth inning of the opener and her second sent everyone home as she rocked a three RBI blast to end game two. Rabenold batted 5-7 with five RBI and four runs scored while also stealing two bases and moving her team leading total to 12 on the year. Stacy Sanders tallied a dinger in the two game set, while going 4-8 with an RBI and Ingrid Schumacher tagged a solo shot game two to highlight a 3-5 day.

Nicole Anderson improved to 10-5 on the year, picking up the game one victory. The sophomore scattered three hits and allowed just one run, unearned, while racking up 12 strikeouts. Schumacher was the winner of game two, surrendering four hits and two runs with three strikeouts.

Rabenold sent a rocket over the right center fence to lead off the Tars first inning of game one and give them a quick 1-0 lead. The Lakers manufactured one in the second, but Schumacher singled to lead off the Rollins fourth and Starcher made it a 3-1 game with a shot over the left field wall. Rollins then plated one in each of the sixth and seventh innings for the 5-1 victory.

The Tars jumped all over the Lakers again to begin the nightcap as Rabenold doubled to lead off and eventually scored on a wild pitch. Back to back homers by Sanders and Schumacher blew the game open and gave the Tars a 3-0 cushion. Rabenold singled in DeFilippo in the second, but LSSU came back with one it the fourth to make the score 4-1.

In the fourth, the Tars took advantage of two errors and plated three, but again Lake State answered with one in the top of the sixth. Sanders singled and Schumacher walked in the Tars sixth to put two on with one out before Starcher hit another over the right field fence for a walk off homer.

Rollins will be back on the diamond on Monday, March 12 as they will host Spring Arbor (Mich.) in a double header. Game one is set to begin at 6 p.m.
