Anderson struck out 17 in a tight game one, 1-0 victory while
Sherri Rabenold went 4-4 in a 9-1, game two rout as the Rollins
softball team swept Spring Arbor in a doubleheader on Monday.
The victory pushes Rollins' (18-6) winning streak to nine games
while Spring Arbor falls to 1-7.
Anderson gave up a first inning hit, but was nearly perfect the
rest of the way, allowing just one more base knock and no runs
while racking up a season best 17 strikeouts. The win improves her
record to 11-5 on the year. Rollins mustered just two hits in game
one, coming off the bats of Lauren Starcher and Rachel Almengual.
Starcher scored the game's lone run as she led off the Tars' second
with a single and later crossed the plate after two errors.
Rabenold went 4-4 with three runs scored and an RBI in the night
cap while Stacy Sanders hit 2-4 with four RBI. Ingrid Schumacher
picked up the victory in the circle, scattering four hits and
allowing one rune with five walks and five strikeouts.
Rollins hung one run in the third and four in the fourth for a
commanding 5-0 lead. After a Cougars run in the top of the sixth,
Rollins came back with three more as a Sanders bases loaded double
ended the game with no outs and one left on base in the frame.
Rollins will be back in action on Tuesday, March 13 at 4 p.m.
when they will open up a three game series with Kentucky State.
First pitch for Tuesday's doubleheader is slated for 4 p.m. at Lake
Island Park.
