WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 13, 2007) ' Five Tar
softball players doubled in the second game of the doubleheader
against Kentucky State, while Sherri Rabenold blasted her fourth
homerun of the season in the first game of the doubleheader.
Rollins swept the Thorobreds 8-0 (five innings) in Game One and
16-1 (five innings) in Game Two on Tuesday afternoon at Lake Island
Park.
Rollins' (20-6) is now 10-0 at their home field as their overall
winning streak remains at 11 games.
Nicole Anderson pitched a no-hitter in the first game and a
two-hitter in the second, tallying 17 strikeouts on the afternoon.
The wins improve her record to 13-5 on the year. Rollins notched
eight hits in game one, two each came off the bats of Rabenold and
Amanda DeFilippo. Rabenold also knocked in three runs and tallied
her 16th and 17th stolen bases and DeFilippo brought home two
runners as well.
The Tars dominated the Thorobreds in Game Two totaling 13 hits.
DeFilippo went 3-4 in the second game with four RBI, while third
baseman Rachel Almengual went 2-3 with an RBI. Shortstop Lauren
Starcher hit 2-3 on the afternoon knocking one run home. Senior
Stacy Sanders hit two doubles in the game with 12 thus far in the
season going 2-3 with three RBI.
Rollins will be back in action on Wednesday, March 14 at 11:00
a.m. when they finish the last game of the three game series with
Kentucky State. First pitch for Wednesday's game is slated for
11:00 a.m. at Lake Island Park.
