Tars Take A Tumble Against No. 32 Concordia

WINTER PARK, Fla. (March 5, 2007) ' The 17th ranked Rollins men's tennis team fell 5-4 against the Concordia Clippers (2-1) on Monday afternoon at the Bert W. Martin Tennis Complex.

The Tars (4-2) were victorious in two out of three doubles contests. The No. 1 team of Gustavo Carvalho and Jonathan Gomez took down Alex Grubin and Rodrigo Teixeira 8-3. Adrian Tan and Michael Schwartz devastated Vlad Malkin and Kirill Azovtsev 8-2 in the second seeded doubles, while Pablo Seijo and Michael Schwartz dropped their match against John Cassas and Nik Boerger in the No. 3 position.

Rollins claimed two out of the six singles matches with both the No. 1 and No. 2 seeds overwhelmed by their Clipper opponents. Tan fell to Grubin 6-3, 6-1, and Gomez lost to Molet 6-4, 6-3. The Tars rebounded by winning in the third and fourth singles spots. No. 3 Carvalho took out 34th ranked Teixeira 6-4, 6-2, while fourth seeded Seijo rolled past Azovtsev 6-4, 6-1. Schwartz lost a close match against Malkin 7-5, 6-1 in the No. 5 position, and Kevin Stickney ran out of steam against Boerger 6-1, 4-6, 6-2 in the sixth spot.
